Fish covered with scales and fins of considerable durability. In fact, Whetfish are so hard that they are often used in place of common whetstones to sharpen weapons. It is believed these hardened features evolved as a defense mechanism against predators. They show a strong interest in Emerald Jitterbait. They used to be considered a Fish, which you could get by using a Fishing Rod and where called Knife Mackerel when first introduced in the series, but have been changed to Endemic Life since MHWorld and then to Aquatic Life in MHWilds. Whetfish is a Aquatic Life first introduced in MH.
